Sekhmet is the Egyptian goddess of fire, destruction and healing, a powerful war-deity and protector. She appears as a lioness, a great huntress who finds pleasure in drinking blood as one would water. She is a daughter of Re and is considered to be an aspect of Bastet and Hathor.
